Troubleshooting and Laptops

While we can only provide limited support in the summer, the following are some suggestions for troubleshooting issues.

You may also find help on the PSD Technical Support and Resources website.

You should let your home school counselor know that you are keeping your laptop for Summer School.

You can use a personal laptop to complete these classes. Phones and Tablets should NOT be used.

High Speed Internet

Students/families who are experiencing insufficient internet connectivity in the home can visit PSD Internet Access Resources webpage for assistance programs. Browsers

Enable Cookies

The purpose of the computer cookie is to help the website keep track of your visits and activity. This is common and necessary for nearly every website we visit. Visit the appropriate link below for information on making sure cookies are allowed.

Browser Hygiene: Clearing Cache and Cookies

Every time you browse the web, your computer quietly collects thousands of files—including images, advertisements, tracking cookies, and site scripts. Over time, this digital clutter from various websites can pile up, causing performance lags or glitches on pages that should otherwise work perfectly. Fortunately, a quick clear of your browser’s cache and cookies is often the easiest way to resolve these issues and keep things running smoothly.

Grammar/Spell Checker

All Microsoft and Chrome products have a grammar/spell checker included. There are free apps available online for free browser spellcheckers including a free version of Grammarly, which will check spelling in most browsers.

Office 365

If you are having trouble opening or saving any files (including for Apple) you should use your Office 365 Suite that comes with your school district access. (Please note that students from out of district might not have this function.)

  • Open your district email in a browser.

  • Click on the 9 square menu button in the upper corner.

  • Select Word.

  • This is a limited feature version of Word, but it will give you the capability to open and save Word files.
