Expectations, Success, Code of Conduct, Special Educational Needs, and Attendance

Our main objective at Summer Session is to help students become successful contributors to society. We expect students to do their best academically and socially. It is in the best interest of all students to demonstrate school-appropriate language and behavior by following the PSD Code of Conduct and Student Use of District Information Technology. Students who violate these policies will be dropped without a grade from the class.

Online classes are a great way to learn, but they aren't for everyone.  Please take this advice seriously before you sign up for classes.

Online Classroom Expectations

At Summer Session, we believe:
• Everyone has the right to learn without interfering with the learning of others.
• Everyone’s welfare, possessions, and dignity will be respected. Please respect yourself and others.
• Students are expected to be familiar with and to follow the class expectations of their teacher.
• Plagiarism and academic dishonesty will not be tolerated; it will lead to disciplinary action and a failing grade in the class.
• Any student referred to the administration will result in parental contact and possible dismissal from the summer session.

Success Online

The online courses are full classes that require a commitment to complete in a short amount of time.

  • Just like face-to-face courses, you must devote 50 - 80 hrs. to finish the material.

  • You must feel comfortable doing online research and a lot of online reading.

Academic Integrity

Academic Honesty means that all students are responsible for the authenticity of their own work.

Everything is checked for plagiarism and the thoughtful use of AI.  You must know how to gather reliable Internet information, paraphrase in your own words,  and correctly cite material.

Special Educational Needs

Students who have additional educational needs (IEP, 504, etc.) should understand that resource support in the summer is very limited. Please speak with the support staff at your home school to discuss if this setting will meet your requirements.

Additional time, resubmission of assignments, and extended testing times are already built into the classes.

Attendance

Students should complete work regularly. Please contact your instructor if you will be offline for more than 72 hours. Students that are falling behind in class will be contacted.
Students that do not complete a class with a passing grade will be automatically withdrawn from the class with no grade. This will protect the student's GPA and transcript.

Mandatory Expulsion Laws

Colorado State laws will be enforced, along with student expectations and behavior. We also abide by the policies and regulations as stated in the Students’ and Parents’ Rights document published by the Poudre School District.

Dress Code

We always require appropriate dress for school. If you come onto campus or will be virtually meeting with staff or other students in class: No short-shorts, tube tops, or halter tops. Clothing must cover underwear. No clothing that promotes alcohol, drugs, tobacco, gang affiliation, sexuality, or profanity.
